2024 Double Nasty

Grandpa's gun in the corner collecting dust is nasty; taking it to the range and blowing rounds through it is DOUBLE NASTY!  This shooting event brings back the nostalgia of growing up in Michigan, where everyone hunted and no gun was left behind. Grab your piece - from modern to antique; step to the line and become part of the dream cruise of guns.

2024 Double Nasty Rules

Shooting takes place between the posted times on May 22nd and 23rd, 2024.  Raffle drawings and competition winners are announced via ZOOM at 8:00pm Thursday. The event encourages competition by enhancing the scores of older guns and smaller gauges based on the Enhanced Score Grid. The competitive purse is evenly divided among classes and categories; and is paid to the winner’s designated charity.

  • Raffle Tickets from Shooting
    • 5 tickets for purchasing a line
    • 5 tickets for each broken off-color target 
  • Shooting is 75 targets per Gauge Class line (Divided into 25 target disciplines: Skeet, Trap, Double Skeet)
    • Skeet standard rules apply
    • Trap is modified slightly:
      • Shooters stand closer to the house
      • 2 shots per target allowed
    • Nasty Double Skeet is from stations 3, 4, 5, and 8; with no option
      • 3 pairs at each station: Following High / Following Low / True Double
      • Station 8’s True Double requires the shooter to face the low house
        • Low bird is taken first
        • High bird is taken after it passes overhead
      • The 25th target is same as 24th, overhead high house taken going away.
    • “Oh Mercy!” rule for single barrels. The puller shows mercy and delays the second bird. 
  • Competitive rules for Prize Purse
    • You can use multiple guns per gauge class
    • Scored as breaks times enhancement number found on the 2021 Enhanced Score Grid
      • 5 rows for the Era (Modern, Pre 2000s, Pre 70s, Pre WWII, Pre WWI)
      • 3 columns for Gauge Classes (10/12; 16/20; 28/.410)
    • Scorer’s table has final determination of gun’s era
    • Ammo must be appropriate for condition and chamber
      • See a gunsmith if you have an older weapon, you may need lite pressure ammo
    • Reshooting is encouraged
      • Reshoots are by discipline (25 targets)
      • Improved enhanced scores wipeout lower scores 
  • 7 winning classes and categories (NEW for 2024 - addition of Sporting Clay Champion)
    • 3 Gauge Class winners (Enhanced score within gauge class)
    • 1 Double Nasty winner (Top Enhanced score regardless of gauge class)
    • 1 Novice Nasty winner (Top Enhanced score, for shooters who are below 1,000 breaks for their lifetime.)
    • 1 Ultra Nasty winner (Top Enhanced score across combined gauge classes) 
    • 1 Sporting Clay Champion (Top Enhanced score on 50 clay targets)
  • PRICE per line of 75 targets is $85. Early Bird pricing and packages if ordered by May 10th.
    • $5 goes to the competitive purse, which is donated to the winner’s designated charity.
    • Balance to GGRDU for event expenses, including cost of raffles.   
    • Reshoots are $25 for 25 targets and replace a score on a discipline, plus earn raffle tickets on breaks.
